The observatory tower

A breathtaking view

Just 10 minutes from Maison Sollier, lies Chemin des Dames , one of the major battlefields of the First World War . Chemin des Dames is a ridge line between the valleys of the Aisne and Ailette. Its location and underground quarries made it a veritable fortress for the German army, which the Allied troops tried to dislodge for four endless years. Today, a veritable open-air museum, stretching over 40 kilometers, it is dotted with numerous monuments.

From the top of the observation tower, more than 20 meters above the ground, you can enjoy the superb panorama . This construction recalls the importance of capturing high points during the war. A blue beacon lights up at night in memory of the soldiers who fell in combat.
